For FSLI’s 15 year anniversary Bowman Creative and I worked on redesigning FSLI’s logo and brand. I created an icon that represents the system the food system and highlights how a leader can grow from being a seed to an empowered catalyst for change.

I worked with RTI Press to create this book cover. The book was about using data to make decisions in education. I took the iconic apple that represents education and peeled it, photographed it, and then photoshopped binary code under it to represent the data.

Researched and created these Covid-19 infographics for Make It Memorable. Downloaded peer-reviewed research articles and expert opinions to consolidate what can be done for vulnerable populations during the coronavirus stay-at-home order. Designed to be posted on Twitter.

FSLI (Food Systems Leadership Institute) and I worked together to create this infographic for their reporting.

Academy Health is a conference that RTI attends every year. I worked on the booth display and advertisement for our 2018 booth. The first image was a pop up banner that participants could wear a cape and mask and stand in front of while they pledged to be storytelling superheroes. The second image was the black and white ad that we used to advertise in the program to advertise the booth.

In August 2019 the FDA approved a drug that would help treat Extremely Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. These elements were created to help tell the story of the 19 year journey that RTI staff went on.

I drew the drug’s molecular makeup and made it into a subtle background. I then took the hexagon that is repeated in the molecular structure, and used it as a key element in the timeline. I researched the key years and wrote the copy for the piece as well.

I worked with the RTI Global Gender Center to create a brochure that highlighted the work they did around the world. To emphasize how there were a plethora of layers on each individual and issue, I painted images in Photoshop to highlight how no individual or issue was just one thing.

We also used the = sign in place of the “E” on all the titles to highlight that the Gender Center was striving for equality between genders.

A set of 9 briefs about heart health were made for HeartRescue. These briefs were designed for India and are to be translated and distributed to China and Brazil as well. Since these 9 briefs each focused on a different aspect of heart health, but also belonged as a unit, I kept the cover almost the same on each. To differentiate them, I changed the color of the tie, the title, and the number.

This book cover was created for RTI Press to showcase 6 case studies of how to use governance and social accountability across sectors. The case studies came from across the globe, but focused on countries in Africa and Asia. The patterns came from the countries highlighted, and hands were used to focus on how ideally governance came from the ground up where individuals worked with their local governments, and local governments worked with state governments, etc. The basketweave pattern in the background represented how there were a lot of interconnected aspects to making governance work across sectors.

This factsheet was created for research staff who wanted to report their findings to the general public. They wanted it to have an infographic feel so that it could be consumed easier than a 2-page factsheet full of text.

I created this book cover with RTI Press to represent how data could be utilized in education decisions, and how those decisions could set students up for success. For the cover, the team wanted to show how data physically leveraged students to get ahead and succeed.

This program was to acknowledge the graduates of FSLI cohort 9. The program wanted to recognize each of the individuals as well as give an overview of the program. This is a trifold brochure that was printed on glossy paper.

SCDIC (Sickle Cell Disease Implementation Consortium) was founded in 2016 and needed a logo that represented sickle cell disease. I used the structure of the cells abstractly as a pattern and created a logo that the could use across their materials. In addition to the logo, I created a color palette, style guide, PowerPoint templates, and poster templates for the consortium.

NSDUH (National Survey on Drug Use and Health) is a large survey that provides statistics on U.S. household’s drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, mental health, and other health issues. They wanted a logo that represented the statistics and data that they collect, so I represented a bar chart in the N in NSDUH and provided them with a style guide.

I created this logo for a study in Brazil that was collecting information on Zika patients. They wanted to focus on the love and care of the parental support for the kids, but did not want to have a baby pictured. I worked with them to create this logo. The parental hands are cradling the baby’s feet showing love and care, and the shape of the hands are reminiscent of a heart.

I worked with the Southeast Dairy Foods Research Center to update their logo in 2010. Their original logo had a serifed font and they wanted to keep that look, but make it look a bit more modern.

This logo had to convey several things: it was a part of NC State and needed to maintain the NC State red, SDFRC was part of the broader DFRC group and the S needed to stand out, and it needed to convey dairy and/or research. The abstract symbol is reminiscent of a glass of milk, and the milk line alludes to change or data being graphed.

As the graphic designer for this brochure, I worked with FSLI (Food Systems Leadership Institute) to make their copy more concise and relate to the three themes that appeared throughout. We worked together to come up with the copy, headlines, and title. I then designed this informational brochure for them to give out to potential new fellows. The target audience was individuals who were leaders in universities and food industry.

This postcard was made for Z Pizza’s new location off of Fayetteville Rd in Raleigh, NC. They wanted to advertise that they were available for group bookings.

I designed a line of Christian shirts for PKD Screenprinting. These t-shirt designs were made with a target audience of teens and young adults, so youth groups could order large amounts if desired.

These are a portion of the slides used to explain how working memory can be applied to presentations. All slides are created in PowerPoint and show only the information that the presenter is speaking about to ensure the audience follows along.
